Estate Planning for Non-Traditional Families

January 27, 2012

Having just attended a webinar hosted by NY Life, I realized how easy it may be to think you have your estate planning in good shape and not realize it still needs work.  The focus of this presentation was planning for the non-traditional family - this could include second or subsequent marriages, adopted children, same sex couples, unmarried couples and so on.  If you fall into any of these categories, please consult with your legal advisor for estate planning matters.  It is easy to believe your circumstances are covered in your documents or by state law, but in many cases you must specifically address your situation to ensure your affairs are handled as you have intended.  Please give me a call if you have any questions.
