Employee Spotlight - Mandy Sent

The RCG CPAs Advisors team is made up of many dedicated and talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you'll meet some of these people, learn what they do (on and off the clock), and see how they make RCG CPAs Advisors unique and fun.

Today, the spotlight is on Mandy Sent. Mandy is a CPA – Tax Manager at RCG CPAs Advisors. She went to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor's and Master’s in Accounting. Get to know Mandy on a more personal level as she shares some insights on her interests and favorite activities.

Your 'happy place' in Virginia?
Pre-COVID-19: My answer would be my home. It's an older home, built in 1942, and has a lot of charm to it. Or I think so anyway. It's an endless money pit with never-ending projects, but I truly love it.

Post-COVID-19: Still love my home, but I've spent WAAAY too much time there this year! My "happy place" now would be anywhere that I can get to see my friends, even if they're hidden behind masks.

What are your favorite hobbies?
Traveling, going to the theater (Broadway, movies, you name it), enjoying and celebrating the arts in general, and tackling my bucket list.

What type of music would we find on your playlist?
My "go to" on this is always Barry Manilow…my mom loved the song "Mandy." . I can't say I like just one type of music, though. I love Handel's Messiah as much as I love the Foo Fighters.

Fun fact?
One of my best friends and I make a pilgrimage to see the Dave Matthews Band every summer.

What is your favorite movie or book?
Truly an impossible question to answer. But I will say I recently re-read, “To Kill A Mockingbird,” and it would definitely be towards the top of the list. I originally read it for school when I was much younger and didn't see so much of what was there on the page. Such a beautifully crafted story.

Favorite thing about working at RCG CPAs Advisors?
Contrary to the prior question, this one is very easy. I don't think you could find a better group of people than my fellow coworkers at RCG Nation! While we come from different backgrounds and have different interests, every single one of our team members is a wonderfully kind, caring and fun human being. One of the hardest things with COVID-19 is not being able to see everyone on a regular basis. Thank you for Zoom!

People would be surprised to know?
I'm not sure there's much that people would be surprised to learn about me. I'm the "crazy cat lady" in the office, and I'm happy to wear that title. My 17-year-old cat, Poca, recently crossed over the rainbow bridge. The house is much too empty without her. I have family and friends-who-are-family in Orlando that I will be visiting in late July. Once I come back, I'll be looking for a pair of kittens. I have to keep up my title, right?

Top 3 highlights of your life?
In no particular order:

  1. Getting to raft in the Grand Canyon. Nature could not be more spectacular there.

  2. Passing the CPA exam.

  3. Getting to go on a trip to Israel that was supposed to happen this year (thank you again, COVID-19!). Can't wait to set foot on the land where Jesus walked the earth. Coming in 2022!!
